The Saint Charles Swim Team is offered as a service to the residents of School District #303 and surrounding communities who want their children to participate in a competitive swim program. The program is designed to meet the needs of all levels of competitive swimmers. The four major areas of our program are:
  • Physical development through proper workouts.
  • Group interaction through group dynamics at practice, meets, and social events.
  • Development of self-esteem through accomplishing individual goals.
  • Self-actualization through planning goals and accepting the responsibility of working towards their achievement.
The degree of commitment to swimming is the decision of each swimmer. Once a decision is made by the swimmer as to their goals, the coaches will assist in developing a workout program for the swimmer.

The basic program design is one where the amount of time available for practice increases as the swimmer matures and is therefore able to handle the increased physical pressures and demands on their time.

The coaching staff feels that while winning is important, the work and planning leading up to the competitive experience is more important. We want swimmers to realize that they are winners if they have achieved their own personal goals, even though they might not have won their event. We want the swimmers who have progressed through our program and graduated from high school to say that they got more out of swimming than just ribbons, medals, and trophies.

The accomplishments of the team are as important as those of the individual. Team accomplishments are achieved when all individuals meet their performance objectives. This is why competition is provided for all ability levels within the team so that each swimmer has the opportunity to perform and see how they are progressing toward their objectives.

Through the cooperative efforts of parents, coaches, and swimmers, the time spent in swimming should therefore prove worthwhile.

SCST SHUT OUT OF THE JOLIET JETS MEET - 12/03/2008

SCST was shut out of the Joliet Jets Fabulous Fifties Meet. We will be attending the CLAIRE STATTON MEMORIAL INVITATIONAL MEMORIAL INVITATIONAL hosted by the Oak Park Swimmers. The meet will be held January 24-25, 2009 at the Oak Park-River Forest High School. You can find the meet packet on the Illinois Swimming Website under meets or the St. Charles Swim Team Website. Nine-hundred and seventy-four athletes made the team this year, including 600 women and 374 men. Sixty-eight percent of the successful applicants had a 4.0 GPA. Fifteen percent of the athletes made the list for the third time in their careers.
